Biography

I was born in a quiet green town called Zhukovsky.

The town is named after Nikolay Yegorovich Zhukovsky, known as the father of Russian aviation. One of his sayings, engraved on a stone near his monument, stuck with me as a child:
“Man will fly through the power of his mind, not the strength of his muscles.”

I graduated from School No. 3 with a gold medal for academic excellence.

Years later, when my cousin enrolled at the same school, my grandmother encouraged him to study hard so that he, too, could graduate with a gold medal. After thinking for a moment, my cousin asked: “Can I get a chocolate medal instead?” A wise choice!

I also graduated from the school of choral art “Poliot”.

I fell in love with music there, and it eventually took me around the world. I even had the chance to sing in St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City and at the Shaolin Monastery in China.

As a teenager, I was once ranked 10^th in Russia in Go.

It started with my grandfather, who taught me chess when I was a child. Later, I joined the “Double check” chess club.

I discovered Go after a chess tournament. I joined Go club “Sente”, reached 1 dan within a year, and won a Moscow championship for teenagers. This victory brought me to a national tournament, where I finished 10^th.

I eventually reached 4 dan.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

This is where differential equations and stochastic integrals became my friends.

Next, I earned a master’s degree in Economics at New Economic School.

At NES, I realized that finance was the field I wanted to contribute to.

I then completed my PhD in Finance at INSEAD.

This is where I became a researcher.

I am now an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Norwegian School of Economics.
